2016 BonAnno

Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

About BonAnno
Meaning “good year,” Bon Anno, the Italian saying heralds the celebration of good times, and is a fortuitous play on Vintner Matthew Bonnano’s last name.

With their first release in 2004, BonAnno Cabs are consistently fruit forward, juicy, ripe and luscious, offering tremendous value for the price - and Napa Valley name recognition.

BonAnno wines should have a place on your table every night - Salute!

Vintage
The 2016 wine grape harvest was early, with a mostly normal yield of exceptional quality.  The early start in the spring and the mild weather over the summer resulted in long hang time, with great flavor development and very reasonable sugars.  2016 is another solid year amidst a string of excellent vintages.

Vineyards
The 2016 BonAnno Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was sourced from several prime valley floor vineyards from within the St. Helena, Rutherford and Oak Knoll districts.
 Winemaker
Owner/Winemaker Matt Bonanno works closely with several vineyard managers throughout the Napa Valley to ensure the quality of his fruit and maximize the potential for each vintage.

Winemaker Notes
A deep ruby red, this seductive Cab shows classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of spice and sage followed by a mix of blueberries and blackberries with fresh raspberry notes.  With a nice balance of acid and well integrated tannins, this wine is smooth, supple and sleek in the mouth: it is well balanced across the palate showcasing flavors of dark fruit, currants and hints of mineral and anise.

Crafted to be enjoyed upon release, this wine will also stand the test of time for those who can wait!

Vintage
California’s 2018 was nearly picture-perfect growing season which began in late February. Spring was mild, with extended flowering yielding uniform grape clusters. Temperatures remained steady and warm throughout the growing season, without any significant heat spikes, making for a cool, unhurried harvest. Yields are being reported above average. There is a lot of optimism for quality in the 2018 vintage.

Vineyards
The 2018 BonAnno Chardonnay is sourced from the Los Carneros AVA located just north of the San Pablo Bay and includes parts of both Napa and Sonoma.  The cool fog and breezes off the bay make the climate cooler and ideal area to grow Chardonnay.

Vintage
California’s 2017 harvest wrapped up early this fall following summer heat spurts and a growing season that saw significant rain throughout the state ending a five-year drought. Vineyard.  The drought is over with the season beginning with rainfall that refilled reservoirs and replenished soils. Harvest began early at a normal pace in many regions, and then progressed rapidly during a heat wave in late August and early September. Temperatures cooled mid-September, slowing the harvest pace and allowing red grapes to ripen gradually. Many regions are reporting reduced yields due to the heat spell, but vintners are reporting strong quality for the 2017 vintage.
